I've heard that the economy take a while (200+ days) to settle in 1.8.0, and workshops themselves definitely have a ramp-up time. A good workshop should be making around 200 denars per day, apparently, but 300+ or even 400+ are possible. Wood cost barely any money but the weapons produced by it can sell for over 100k. Compare that to any other workshop except smithy where the cost of the starting resource is more expensive but the product produced is sold way cheaper.Sometimes you can get the quest from both a town and village for the same bandit base, doubling your pay. After you clear the base, look in mining villages for a "Need Manual Laborers" quest. They will pay 5x the normal amount for your bandit prisoners. Buy them for as low as 50-55 ish Calradian Dollars and sell them for at or above 100 is usually what happens in my games with some exceptuions where I can sell a few dozen of them for over 120-130. I've said this before but buy out workshops that produce the same product around the town your in.well i tried switching to Calradia Expanded Kingdoms from lesser kingdoms and also add calradia at war, and got confused with all the sub files i needed for Realistic battle mod and De Re militaria mod, so i duno if i downloaded something that conflicts but now my game crashes starting a new game all the time, even when reverting back to the mods that worked....sooo its all fucked ill try ...Alright folks here is a video describing not only how to make make profit with workshops but also very useful info about how they and the economic. No workshop is guaranteed income. In general, workshops are terrible at making any cash, and barely return the investment, nevermind making profits. This is a huge letdown after Warband, where workshops allowed to make a serious passive income. You can't give directly but you can sell to the town and the workshop will buy the materials from the town. Helps to lower the price a lot.
